As part of our 60th Anniversary Celebration in 2014, MCAA sponsored a juried art exhibit in the main gallery of the Grace Hudson Museum.
"A portrait of our times: Mendocino County Art Association's 60th year invites reflection, celebration," by Roberta Werdinger
"Carol Heady on "Artists Look Back"
Long-time MCAA member Carol Heady shared her thoughts on the organization and an interview she did on KZYX on February 3, 2014:
The art association has given me so many enriching art exhibits, friends and knowledge in my life; when I think back on all the years gone past it doesn't seem possible that the collection of my life events have been over thirty years and I have done little compared to some who have dedicated parts of their lives keeping the Art Association alive and going...
June Oster (watercolor), our longest dedicated ongoing member who took on the historian job...
Minnie McQueary (watercolor), past president comes in a close second...
Hand-writing the MCAA Newsletter was Roselind O'Neal (watercolor artist)...
Leanna Davis (oil) who took on the presidency when no one else could take it on...
Harriet Walters (watercolor), who is no longer with us, approached the City Mayor and the city gave us a meeting place, a weekly art studio so artists could get together and paint...
Rose Peterson Meyers (watercolor) has been digging up well-known artists for monthly workshops and demonstrations while still holding down a full time job...
One that I must mention is Ann Schuierer (watercolor). She retired from the American Red Cross as its treasurer. She said she "never was an artist" but would like to volunteer to be MCAA's treasurer. She kept the books and attended every Board meeting and workshop for many years...
Our men who lifted tables and did the heavy stuff were Richard Leamon and Warren Leach, and so many more members who took on jobs for the good of the association...
Pat Vetzmadian, Barbara Osborn, Robert Degrassi - past presidents who made turning points in the Association so it became a better, warm and joyful club for the members...
